Mother has car stolen after walking into Detroit gas station

Detroit police are searching for a suspect who stole a mother’s car while it was left unattended and on at a Detroit gas station.

The incident happened on Sunday in the area of E. McNichols & I-75 Service Drive.
 
The mother and her 12-year-old child went down to grab a few items from the gas station when an unknown suspect entered the car and drove off.

The mother, Marilyn, attempted to chase after the car but fell to the ground. She is currently in the hospital suffering from a broken leg in 3 places. The vehicle was recovered, but it was set on fire.
