Mother drives to elementary school, attacks 11-year-old student who fought her daughter

Detroit Public Schools Community Police are investigating after a parent assaulted a child at an elementary school.

The incident happened Tuesday afternoon at around 3:30 p.m. at Pasteur Elementary School on Stoepel Street in Detroit.

A mother went to the school and allegedly physically attacked an 11-year-old female student after learning her child had been involved in a fight with the student earlier that day, according to sources.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. The student had bruises on her face after the attack.

“Unfortunately there was a fight that escalated at Pasteur Tuesday that involved students and a parent, the district has administered discipline to the students based on preliminary findings. We condemn this unacceptable behavior and want to assure our community that we are taking this matter very seriously. We have reported the incident to law enforcement and are cooperating fully with their investigation. We are committed to supporting our students, staff and families; our school counselors are available to assist any student who may need it,” the district said in a statement

The investigation is ongoing.
