A police chase involving the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Saturday night ended with a sheriff’s vehicle overturned and submerged in a river.
The incident began near North Dixie Highway and Sandy Creek Road when deputies initiated a pursuit. The chase continued for several miles before the sheriff’s vehicle wrecked and flipped into the River Raisin river.
The deputy involved was able to exit the vehicle. No serious injuries have been reported, and it remains unknown on what prompted the chase.
The driver was arrested.
Monroe County is located approximately 26 miles south of Detroit Metro Airport.
