Michigan State Police have shut down a large-scale illegal marijuana operation, seizing over $10 million worth of cannabis products in a major bust on Wednesday.
Detectives with MSP’s Marijuana & Tobacco Investigation Section (MTIS) executed a search warrant at a former manufacturing facility in Webber Township, which is north of Grand Rapids.
Inside the 17,000-square-foot building, investigators found more than 13,400 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, along with hundreds of pounds of dried flower.
Authorities say multiple individuals were arrested at the scene. According to state officials, neither the property nor those involved had valid licenses through the Cannabis Regulatory Agency.
Investigators also emphasized the potential health risks associated with black-market cannabis. Illegal grows often use pesticides, mold, and other harmful chemicals that can be dangerous to consumers.
The massive grow was spread across a 19-acre property, and officials estimate the seized product has a street value exceeding $10 million.
