Michigan minimum wage is going up in 2025

In 2025, several new laws and amendments will come into effect in Michigan, impacting minimum wage and employee benefits.

These changes stem from a Michigan Supreme Court ruling reinstating voter-backed initiatives previously altered by the state legislature.

Minimum Wage Increases:
• Current Rate: $10.33 per hour.
• February 21, 2025: Minimum wage rises further to $12.48 per hour.• Annual adjustments will continue, with the minimum wage reaching $14.97 per hour by February 21, 2028. • By February 21, 2030, tipped workers will receive the full minimum wage, phasing out the current tip credit system.

Earned Sick Time Act:
Taking effect on February 21, 2025, the Earned Sick Time Act will grant Michigan workers access to paid sick leave:
• Accrual Rate: Employees earn one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours worked.
