Dr. Ammar Ghanem, a West Bloomfield father of three, is trapped in war-torn Gaza, unable to leave the conflict zone that has already claimed tens of thousands of lives.
Ghanem, a critical care and pulmonary physician, had gone to Gaza with an international medical team to work at the European Hospital in Al-Fukhari, only 7 miles from Rafah.
Although their medical mission ended, Ghanem and his team are stuck, as the Israeli Defense Forces have taken control of the Rafah border crossing, effectively sealing off the area and preventing anyone from entering or exiting.
This blockade has also halted the flow of food, supplies, and aid, exacerbating the dire conditions. While Dr. Ghanem is caught in the midst of relentless fighting and a deepening humanitarian crisis, his wife Amnah and their children Yaser, Zied, and Haneen wait anxiously for his return in Michigan.
