The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) says it has received a credible and consistent report of an alligator on Belle Isle in Detroit.
A photo with location data was provided to officials, though staff have not yet seen the animal themselves.
DNR teams are monitoring the area. Visitors are advised not to approach or feed any wild animals.
Anyone who notices unusual wildlife activity is urged to call Michigan’s Report All Poaching hotline at (800) 292-7800.
