Michigan is stepping up efforts to protect construction workers and reduce crashes with a new law allowing work zone safety cameras to be placed.
The cameras, placed in marked areas, will monitor speeding to prevent accidents and ensure safer conditions for workers fixing Michigan’s roads.
In 2023 alone, Michigan saw over 8,000 crashes in construction zones, including 24 fatalities. The new law aligns Michigan with 23 other states already using this proven technology to slow down drivers and improve safety.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed the bipartisan legislation today.
