Metro Detroit rapper charged after allegedly killing girlfriend in Westland

A metro Detroit rapper has been charged after he allegedly murdered his girlfriend this week in Westland.

46-year-old Jimmie “Supa Emcee” Brown is facing first-degree murder charges after he stabbed his girlfriend, Kelly Ann Mays, 49. On January 7, 2024, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Westland police officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 36700 block of McKinney Drive in Westland.

Upon their arrival, officers located Ms. Mays inside the bedroom of her apartment unit, deceased, suffering from multiple lacerations to her neck and her chest. It is alleged that Defendant Brown stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife, fatally wounding her, before fleeing the scene.

Brown turned himself into the Westland Police Department later the same day. Kelly Mays, also known as Native Child’s, was a well-known advocate for mental health and domestic violence.
