An officer was shot and killed Sunday morning in Melvindale.
The shooting happened in the block of Clarann, near Oakwood Blvd and Schaefer. (north of Fort Street)
A Melvindale officer was shot during a foot pursuit. Officers were dispatched to his location after he stopped answering , and that is when they learned he was shot.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died.
Michigan State police, and other agencies are currently in the area searching for the suspect. The suspect (s) are still on the run.
