A suspect who was on the run after allegedly robbing multiple banks across metro Detroit has been arrested and now faces federal charges.
Dorian Trevor Sykes, 41, has been charged with two bank robberies that took place on March 6 and March 12, 2025. However, local authorities believe he may be connected to additional crimes.
According to federal investigators, Sykes allegedly first struck Credit Union One in Sterling Heights, where he passed a note demanding money before fleeing with approximately $10,000.
Days later, on March 12, he allegedly robbed a Chase Bank in Lathrup Village. This time, he used a withdrawal slip with a message: “Give me all the money… I have a g-n… I will k-ll everyone in here.” The teller complied, handing over around $3,400. Surveillance footage later showed a man matching Sykes’ description fleeing the scene and getting into a white Rolls Royce SUV, according to the federal criminal complaint.
Law enforcement later tracked Sykes to the MGM Grand Detroit, where he was staying using hotel vouchers.
He was seen driving the rented Rolls Royce, but when officers attempted to stop him, he fled. The vehicle was later recovered after he abandoned it near I-94 and Morang on Detroit’s east side.
MDN obtained screenshots from a public social media live video allegedly showing Sykes inside the Rolls Royce with an unidentified woman. The same woman had also posted photos of large amounts of cash online, thanking “Dorian”.
Sykes was already known to authorities, having previously been convicted of two bank robberies in 2020. He was released from federal custody in February 2024 and placed on supervised release.
Now, he is facing new federal charges.
