Man Shot by Police during pursuit in Warren

The Warren Police Department is sharing new details about an officer-involved shooting that happened Friday evening in the area of 8 Mile Road and Waltham Avenue.

Police say the incident happened at about 6:35 p.m. when officers responded to a report of a stolen GMC Acadia. They found the SUV backed into the parking lot of an open business, occupied by a driver and three passengers.

According to investigators, when uniformed officers approached, the GMC attempted to flee, striking two Warren patrol cars and allegedly driving toward officers. An officer-involved shooting then occurred.

The SUV fled the scene but became disabled near 8 Mile Road and Yonka Street in Detroit. Warren officers took all four occupants into custody.

Police say the injured suspect was taken to a local hospital by Detroit Fire Department. The suspect is listed in stable condition and remains in police custody. The three other occupants were not injured and were taken to the Warren Police Department jail for booking and processing.
