Man robbed after woman lures him through dating app

Four suspects are in custody following an early morning armed robbery in Warren that police say was part of a dating app setup.

The incident happened around 1:49 a.m. near 12 Mile and Van Dyke. According to Warren police, the victim, an adult male, arranged to meet a woman through a dating app and was directed to a vacant home near 12 Mile and Lund. Upon arrival, he met the woman, who led him inside and asked him to wait in a bedroom while she used the bathroom, according to a news release.

While the victim waited, two armed men entered the room, demanded his belongings, and assaulted him before fleeing. The victim later escaped through a window and called 911.

Officers responding to the call found a suspect vehicle nearby. When officers approached, the suspects ran into a home. After attempts to make contact failed, the Warren Police Special Response Team (SRT) was called in. Officers ultimately entered the home and arrested four suspects—three men and one woman—without further incident. Police also recovered evidence connected to the crime, authorities say.

Authorities say the case remains under investigation and will be presented to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office for potential charges.
