A 25-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly opening fire on another driver during a road rage incident on I-94 near the Lodge Freeway on Sunday.
According to court records, Jaylin Cornell Ford has been charged with eight offenses, including assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, and felonious assault. He received a $200,000 bond.
Prosecutors say the incident started with an altercation on the freeway between Ford and another driver.
Ford allegedly followed the victim’s vehicle, pulled up alongside it, and fired a round into the car. Police later confirmed the bullet shattered the driver’s side window.
The victim provided police with a description of the shooter, the weapon, and the vehicle’s license plate. Investigators traced the plate back to Ford. Officers arrested Ford at his home and recovered the weapon that matched the description. Officials say Ford also made statements implicating him in the shooting. He said he lost his ‘temper’.
Ford’s defense attorney argued that he acted in self-defense, claiming the victim also had a gun.
