Police are investigating after the highly decomposed body of a woman was found inside a Bloomfield Township home on Saturday.
Around 12:15 p.m. on September 27, 2025, officers were called to a house in the 4600 block of Hedgewood Drive for a welfare check.
Inside, they discovered a woman who appeared to have been dead for a long time. Her husband had been living in the home with her remains and was in distress.
For safety, crisis negotiators and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team responded. Officers were able to communicate with the man and take him safely into protective custody.
Police say the woman was in her late 50s. Investigators have not determined exactly how long she had been dead.
According to Bloomfield Township Police, there are no signs of foul play and the neighborhood remains safe.
The investigation is ongoing.
