Man charged in two kidnappings in Macomb County

A 23-year-old Shelby Township man was charged in connection with two attempted abduction involving two young girls. 
 
It is alleged that on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at around 1:30pm, the suspect attempted to abduct a 15-year-old girl who was walking on Clinton River Road in Clinton Township. 

A witness intervened and the victim was able to escape. The suspect fled the scene. 

In Sterling Heights at approximately 2:30pm, the suspect approached a 7-year-old girl at the Clinton River Park North entrance, grabbed her off her bicycle, put her in his car and attempted to leave the park.  A bystander boxed the suspect vehicle in and the young girl was able to escape.

Endi Bala was charged with Attempted Unlawful Imprisonment, a five year felony, and Assault and Battery, a 93-day-misdemeanor in the Clinton Township incident.  He was charged with Kidnapping – Child Enticement, a life felony, Reckless Driving, a 93-day misdemeanor, and Assault and Battery, a 93-day misdemeanor in the Sterling Heights incident. The motive is unknown.

“The swift actions of these brave young girls and bystanders, combined with the relentless dedication of our law enforcement, have prevented what could have been a tragic situation. We will pursue justice to ensure the safety of our community,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
