Man Charged in Gas Station Shooting That Left 2 Dead, 2 injured After argument over someone Flirting

A Hazel Park man has been charged in a deadly shooting at a Detroit gas station that left two people dead and injured two others.

30-year-old Jaylen Lee Robinson has been charged in connection with the July 28, 2025, shooting that happened just before 4 a.m. at a gas station on Puritan, near Livernois.

32-year-old Martin Clay, of Davison, was shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

34-year-old Maria Jenkins, of Highland Park, was also shot in the and rushed to the hospital, where she later died.

A 28-year-old woman and a 39-year-old woman, both from Detroit, were also shot. One had a gunshot wound to the torso, and the other had a graze wound. Both were taken to the hospital in private vehicles.

According to court arraignment, the shooting began after a verbal argument between the suspect and Clay. It started over someone “flirting”.

The argument turned physical, and Robinson pulled out a gun-and started shooting.

Robinson was identified by witnesses and his probation officer. He had recently been sentenced to 12 months of probation in April 2025 for carrying a concealed weapon (CCW).

He is now charged with:
• 2 counts of First-Degree Murder
• 2 counts of Assault with Intent to Murder
And more.

The case is still under investigation.
