A Dearborn Heights man has been arrested and charged after police say he stole more than $70,000 in jewelry while helping a homeowner move furniture in Dearborn Heights.

According to investigators, 37-year-old Matthew Wisner was inside a home on Dixie Lane when he allegedly went through jewelry boxes and stuffed items into bags. Dearborn Heights Police say he shoved the homeowner before running off with his 7-year-old son at his side.

Officers quickly located Wisner on Dixie Lane and placed him under arrest. Body camera footage captured the moment police recovered multiple bags filled with gold rings, watches, necklaces, earrings, and designer sunglasses. The stolen items were valued at around $70,000.

Wisner was arraigned in front of Judge Mark Plawecki on larceny-related charges. His bond was set at $2,500 with no 10% option.

Police say all of the stolen jewelry was recovered and returned to the homeowner.
