Man arrested after weed dispute leads to shooting

A man was arrested after he fired shots at his roommate during an argument, according to Sterling Heights police.

On Sunday, Dec. 1, Sterling Heights Officers were dispatched to the 4700 block of Ruton Ct., near Mound & 18 Mile on shots fired call.

Officers arrived on scene, and took the suspect in the shooting in custody.

Upon further investigation it was found that the dispute began amongst roommates over the accusation that one person was stealing m——arijuana from the other, police said in a news release.

The dispute escalated. The suspect in this incident began to fire approximately five shots through the bedroom door at the other roommate.

The home was occupied by eight people, including children when the shooting occurred, and luckly no one was injured, authorities said.

The suspect was taken to the Macomb County Jail where he awaits being charged by the Macomb County Prosecutor.
