Man arrested after fatal shooting & standoff in Detroit

A man was arrested after fatally shooting his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day near Washburn Street, close to Wyoming and 6 Mile Road.

Police responded to the scene around 9:00 a.m. and found the woman dead inside a car outside the home.

The alleged suspect, identified as her boyfriend, had barricaded himself inside the house across the street from Mumford High School.

Authorities were able to take the man into custody after a brief standoff. The investigation remains ongoing by homicide.
