Man arrested after confessing to police that he murdered his wife with sword at Detroit home

An investigation is underway after a man entered a Detroit police precinct and admitted to fatally stabbing his wife with a sword.

Around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, a man in his late 60s walked into the Detroit Police Department’s 11th Precinct on Nevada and told officers he had fatally stabbed his wife, according to Commander Michael Chambers.

Officers detained the man and dispatched patrol units to a home on Conley Street, near 7 Mile and Mound Road. When they arrived, they found the front door unsecured and made their way inside.

Upstairs, officers discovered the body of a woman—also in her late 60s—inside a bedroom. A sword was located at the scene and recovered as evidence.

The suspect remains in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
