Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights officially closed its doors on Sunday and will soon be demolished.
In 2022, the company announced it would undergo a transformation from a mall to a town center.
Lakeside will have over 2,800 multi-family apartments, nearly 150,000 square feet of retail and dining, 60,000 square feet of office space, and a 120-room hotel. Approximately 30 acres will be utilized for a park system, streetscape, and infrastructure.
It will be filled with shops, offices, hotels, coffee houses, and restaurants. There will be outdoor seating for music, art, and events.
Surrounding the town center will be a one-and-a-half-mile long encircling parkway. It will connect the Lakeside Town Center development to the Iron Belle Trail, Freedom Trail, and Dodge Park Trail.
