One of the most iconic names in boxing is making a long-awaited comeback to its hometown. KRONK Gym is officially returning to Detroit this summer.
The new gym will be located at the historic Brewster-Wheeler Recreation Center at 670 Wilkins Street.
KRONK Gym gained global fame for producing champions. After a devastating fire in 2017 destroyed the original location, the new facility will mark a fresh chapter while honoring the gym’s powerful legacy.
Members of Steward’s family, including Marie Steward and Sylvia Steward-Williams, are helping lead the new effort, along with several of KRONK’s original world champions.
Officials say the revitalized gym will focus on youth training, community outreach, and preserving Detroit’s boxing heritage.
