A large-scale, multi-agency operation called “John R Resolve” was launched today, aiming to combat criminal activity and improve the quality of life along the John R. corridor, stretching from McNichols to 8 Mile.
The operation is a zero-tolerance initiative with participation from the Detroit Police Department, Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Highland Park Police Department, Detroit Fire Department, EMS, Animal Control, and several city departments, including BSEED and the Health Department.
Authorities described the day as a crucial step toward addressing persistent community complaints about crime, traffic, and narcotics activity in the area.
BSEED inspectors are also conducting business inspections and addressing blighted properties along the John R. corridor to ensure code compliance and improve safety. Animal Control is also on-site, responding to concerns about stray and neglected animals.
They emphasized that the operation is both an enforcement action and a community outreach effort aimed at restoring safety and livability for residents.
The operation is ongoing.
