Jarvis Butts, Charged in Na’Ziyah Harris Death, Now Accused of Sexually Assaulting 8-Year-Old Daughter

A Detroit man already charged in the disappearance and death of 13-year-old Na’Ziyah Harris is now facing additional criminal charges involving his young daughter, which now makes it four victims.

Court records show Jarvis Ramon Butts, 42, was charged and arraigned today on new counts of first-degree (CSC-I) and second-degree (CSC-II).

Prosecutors say the new case involves allegations that he raped his daughter at his workplace multiple times when she was 8.

Na’Ziyah Harris disappeared on January 9, 2024, after getting off a bus on Detroit’s east side. Her body has not been found, but investigators say digital evidence, phone records, witness statements and forensic material link Butts to her death.

He was previously charged with first-degree premeditated murder, second-degree CSC involving a victim under 13. A Wayne County judge ordered him to stand trial.

Earlier Sexual Assault Allegations

• 2013 Allen Park: Butts is accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl and faces first- and third-degree criminal sexual conduct charges.

• 2012–2014: Another child was allegedly abused between ages 8 and 10.

• 2015–2017: A separate victim was allegedly abused between ages 4 and 6.

Those cases resulted in multiple counts of first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Butts remains in custody on the original murder and sexual assault cases while the newly filed charges move forward in court.
