A home exploded Monday evening in Westland.
The explosion occurred around 7:0 p.m. at a residence on Calhoun Court, near Palmer and Merriman roads. Westland Fire crews responded to a working fire following the explosion, which left the home heavily damaged.
Neighbors described hearing a loud boom that shook nearby homes.
According to neighbors, there were no vehicles in the driveway at the time of the incident, but it’s unclear if anyone was inside.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation and injuries are unknown.
