The Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) is urging residents in flood-prone areas to prepare for potential basement flooding this week.
Despite the regional system operating at full capacity, 1 to 1 ½ inches of rain are expected over the next two days, possibly in quick bursts.
GLWA advises those with a history of flooding to move valuables from basements and avoid using washing machines and dishwashers during heavy rain.
Metro Detroit saw downpours on Tuesday morning, with rain expected to continue, and scattered thunderstorms forecasted for Wednesday.
