From East Side to West: Detroit CVI Groups Take Violence Prevention & Peace Door to Door

Community violence intervention (CVI) groups went out across Detroit over the weekend, taking a hands-on approach to addressing violence.

The two-day “Zone to Zone: Love for the City” caravan brought cars, bikes, and community members together on both the east and west sides of the city.

Organizers stopped at neighborhoods, went door-to-door, and spoke directly with residents about resources, prevention, and choosing peace over violence.

Several local CVI organizations were involved, including Ceasefire, Force Detroit, Beat The Odds, Detroit Friends and Family, New Era Detroit, The People’s Action, Team Pursuit, Detroit 300. Together, they offered resources, connected with families, and spread a message of peace and love.

The caravan launched Saturday from Carstens School on the east side before moving to Stein Playground on the west side Sunday.

Organizers say the event was about more than awareness, it was about action.
