Free Gun Training Being Offered to 1,500 Women in Metro Detroit

Women looking to build confidence and learn safe gun handling can register now for a free, two-day training course in Taylor.

The event, now in its 14th year, was founded by NRA Board member Rick Ector in response to a local tragedy involving a defenseless woman. Since its debut, the course has trained more than 11,000 women in responsible firearms handling and personal safety.

Event Details

• When: Last weekend in July (two full days; 90-minute sessions from 9 AM to 7 PM)

• Where: Recoil Firearms, 22509 Ecorse Road, Taylor, MI 48180

• Cost: Completely free—gun, ammunition, eye/ear protection, targets, instruction and range time all provided at no charge

• Goals: Introduce 1,500+ women of all skill levels to safe handgun handling

What’s Included

• One-on-one instruction with nationally certified instructors

• Fundamentals of safe firearm handling, loading, aiming and firing.

• Giveaways: premium ear protection and abdominal carry bands

Who Can Attend

• Women aged 12 and up (minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian)

• Participants must be legally eligible to possess a gun.
