Fiery crash leaves Mother dead after being hit by drunk driver in Dodge Charger

A Warren woman has died after a fiery crash in Sterling Heights on Sunday.

The crash happened around 1:50 AM in the area of Van Dyke Avenue and 15 Mile Road.

Sterling Heights Police and Fire Departments were called to the scene of a crash involving a Dodge Charger and a Ford F-150 that collided at the intersection.

According to police, both vehicles involved were traveling southbound on Van Dyke Avenue, and the F-150 was stopped at the red light at the 15 Mile Road intersection.

The Charger collided with the rear end of the F-150, causing both vehicles to catch fire.

The 54-year-old female driver of the F-150 was pronounced dead at the scene. The 30-year-old male passenger of the F-150 was transported to an area hospital for treatment of burns.

The 25-year-old driver of the Charger from Detroit was the lone occupant and refused medical treatment on scene, police said. It appears alcohol was a contributing factor to the crash, and the driver of the Charger was arrested and taken to the Macomb County Jail.
