A man has been charged following a series of robberies at multiple businesses in Westland.
Brendan Bonner, 34, of Westland, was taken into custody after allegedly committing three robberies within a six-hour span. Authorities believe Bonner is responsible for incidents at Intimate Ideas, a McDonald’s, and a Shell gas station in the area.
The crime spree began early on October 27 at approximately 12:46 a.m. when a masked individual entered Intimate Ideas on Warren Road in Westland. Surveillance footage shows the suspect taking approximately $422 from the register at gupoint before fleeing, federal agents said in an affidavit.
Later that morning, at around 6:25 a.m., a man wearing a clown mask entered a McDonald’s. The suspect reportedly attempted to access the register before fleeing empty-handed, officials said.
Only minutes after the McDonald’s incident, a similarly masked individual entered a nearby Shell gas station, demanding money from the clerk with a gun. The suspect allegedly made off with $1,070 in cash and thanked the clerk before fleeing, according to court documents.
Local police located Bonner near the Shell gas station following the last robbery. During questioning, Bonner reportedly admitted involvement in all three incidents. He was charged federally.
