Downtown fireworks: DPD to enforce curfew, use new weapon detectors, road closures and more

The Ford Firework show will happen in Downtown Detroit TODAY.

The fireworks will take place around 10 p.m. along the city’s riverfront.

Detroit police say they will be strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. There will also be a LARGE police presence, DPD says.

Minors aged 17 and under, starting at 8 pm until 6 am, will not be allowed downtown without a guardian. Minors will be allowed to travel to and from work, school, church, or organized activities if they have to.

Minors in violation of the curfew will be taken to the Butzel Family Center. The parent or guardian may also receive a parental responsibility violation ticket.
