Doordash driver who came to America to make living fatally shot during road rage while delivering

A DoorDash driver who recently immigrated to the U.S. from Africa in 2023 was fatally shot in an apparent road rage incident, marking Ferndale’s first homicide since 2016.

Ferndale Police say 26-year-old Mamadou Diallo, a Detroit resident originally from Senegal, was shot multiple times while driving southbound on Woodward Avenue near 8 Mile around 1:45 a.m. on March 9, 2025.

Diallo, who was working a delivery route at the time, had just picked up an order from White Castle on Woodward before heading south.

As Diallo merged onto southbound Woodward Avenue, a GMC truck speeding recklessly nearly collided with his vehicle before abruptly switching lanes. Upon reaching 8 Mile, the driver of the truck slowed down, waiting for Diallo to catch up. It is at this point investigators believe that six gunshots were fired from the suspect vehicle at Diallo’s car in an apparent road rage incident, police said in a news presser.

Authorities confirmed the shooting occurred just one day before Diallo’s birthday.

Three suspects were taken into custody on April 8 with help from the FBI’s Oakland County Gang and Violent Crime Task Force. Two have since been released pending further investigation.

One suspect, 39-year-old Terrell Simms of Oak Park, has been formally charged. Simms, a convicted felon, faces second degree murder charges.

Simms was denied bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 17 at 1 p.m.
