Dive teams rescuing residents trapped in flooded Detroit homes

Dive teams are beginning to rescue residents from their flooded homes in Detroit.

It all began overnight Monday after a water main break on Beard St near Vernor and Livernois.

Many homes and vehicles are flooded. Residents are currently stuck in their homes.

First responders from across the state are on the scene, including Wayne County, Oakland County, Van Buren, Downriver, Macomb County, Monroe County & more have set up a command post. Between 150-200 homes are believed to be impacted by the flood.

The flooding is believed to be caused by a 54-inch water main break, which then began to freeze up due to cold weather.
