This initiative is aimed at addressing one of the barriers to education—access to clean clothes—which contributes to chronic absenteeism in the district, according to a news release.

The washers and dryers will be used to clean a variety of items, including sports uniforms, swim class attire, and blankets for pre-K students.

“Ensuring access to essential resources like laundry facilities goes beyond convenience; it’s about providing dignity, fostering self-esteem, and removing barriers to education. This partnership reflects our commitment to holistic student support and exemplifies the power of community collaboration,” said Kerrie Mitchell, President and CEO of the DPSCD Foundation.

The DPSCD Foundation continues to seek donations to support basic needs, including laundry detergent, toiletries, uniforms, and food for students and families. visit [dpsfdn.org]
