Today, Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison led Walk A Mile Wednesday in the city’s 10th Precinct, a weekly event aimed at strengthening relationships between police officers and local residents.
The gathering started at Light of the World Church on Tireman Avenue, where neighbors and officers stretched and prepared before setting off for a one-mile walk through the neighborhood.
The goal of Walk A Mile Wednesday is to break down barriers, improve communication, and build trust between police and the people they serve. By walking side by side, residents get a chance to share concerns, ask questions, and connect with the officers who patrol their streets.
The walks happen every Wednesday in different precincts.
