Detroit police kicked off “Operation Springtide” on Thursday, focusing on traffic safety in busy areas of the city.
The Third Precinct and traffic units targeted high traffic areas, zones near schools, and areas where children play. Officers stopped drivers running stop signs, speeding, driving recklessly, and more.
Results from the operation, according to police:
• 506 citations issued
• 15 vehicles impounded
• 2 felony arrests (warrants)
• 1 stolen vehicle recovered
• 57 improper plate violations (6 led to impounds)
Police say they’ll continue these enforcement efforts throughout spring and into summer.
