A Detroit strip club has been shut down after police say more than 20 underage teens — some reportedly as young as 14 — were allegedly allowed inside the adult venue for a birthday party over the weekend.
The Sting Gentlemen’s Club, located on Michigan Avenue near Central on the city’s west side, was closed Tuesday.
Detroit police executed a search warrant and removed evidence.
The move came after a video circulated on social media, allegedly showing minors inside the club. A concerned mother used a tracking app to locate her child at the venue and alerted police, prompting an investigation.
“This place, as soon as I’m done speaking, will be officially shut down,” said Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison during a press conference outside the club. “There were minors in this establishment, including children as young as 14. There were adult beverages, there was dancing — this is completely unacceptable.”
According to Chief Bettison, the incident happened on Saturday, April 26, during a party that was shared on social media.
“There was a video, a mother made the department aware of it, and her child was in here,” Bettison said. “We’ve got video evidence, and we will be bringing a case against this establishment.”
Bettison added. “Let me be clear — we will not tolerate this in the city of Detroit. Not at this establishment or any other.”
