Detroit man uses 11-year-old daughter to break into homes, left her behind after being confronted

A man is facing multiple felony charges after he allegedly used his 11-year-old daughter to help break into multiple homes in Detroit.

In the latest incident that led to his arrest in the area of E. Jefferson and Conner, a homeowner returned to his property the night of April 29. When he walked inside, he discovered a man and a young girl inside his house. The father reportedly ran when confronted—leaving his little 11-year-old girl behind.

The homeowner called 911 and waited for officers to arrive. During that time, he spoke with the girl, who admitted this was not the first time she had helped her father break into a home.

She explained that she would climb through a window and unlock the door to let him in.

Police later used a K-9 unit to locate the suspect, identified as Andre Stephon-Curtis Broadnax, 29. A vehicle found near the scene was confirmed stolen, and authorities say a key fob found on Broadnax matched that vehicle.

Court records now show Broadnax is facing six total charges in the case:

• Home Invasion – 1st Degree (Felony)

• Stolen Property – Receiving and Concealing Motor Vehicle (Felony)

• Inducing a Minor to Commit a Felony (Felony)

• Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor (Misdemeanor) – filed twice

• Larceny in a Building (Felony)

He is also accused of violating his felony probation. Broadnax was arraigned and remains held on a $75,000 cash or surety bond.

The girl was released into the custody of her aunt.
