A 32-year-old Detroit man has been arrested after he was allegedly angry that he had lost a dice game & fatally shot 2 people in Pontiac, officials say.
The man was arrested on 8 Mile Road and Evergreen Road.
The incident happened in an apartment in the 100 block of North Sanford Street near Fiddis
Avenue in Pontiac. Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the apartment at 8:22 a.m. on Tuesday after a 911 caller reported shots had been fired, police said in a news release. Upon their arrival, deputies found two men who had been shot multiple times: Sidney Ward III, 20, of Highland Park, and Tyrone Davis Glenn Jr., 24, of Pontiac, police said in a news release.
“Evidence discovered at the scene suggested the suspect used a potato in an attempt to silence the shots,” officials said in a news release. Witnesses later said they heard the shots.
Detectives discovered the suspect had fled from the apartment and was traveling on South Boulevard in an Uber. Before the Uber vehicle could be found, the suspect had run away near South Boulevard and Woodward Avenue, police said.
Detectives were conducting surveillance at a variety of locations and spotted the suspect walking on the sidewalk on Eight Mile Road. He was carrying two grocery bags and a case of beer when he was arrested, police said.
“I am super proud of our substation, all our detectives and our partners for the effort that brought this cold-blooded k.ller into custody within 12 hours,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. “I have been in this a long time, but it is still shocking to see the lack of value some people place on a human life. I look forward to him being brought to the bar of justice and held accountable.”
