A Detroit man with a felony conviction is facing new federal charges after posting photos and videos of himself with guns on social media.

According to a federal affidavit, Vincent Edwards, also known as “Boona” or “Skoon,” was charged in federal court in the Eastern District of Michigan.

Investigators said they reviewed his Instagram account, where they found a post showing Edwards inside the basement of his home, next to an AR-rifle with a light attachment and rusted front sight. Agents later recovered it during a search of the house on May 21, 2025, according to the criminal complaint.

Agents also found a RF-15-rifle equipped with a “Yankee Boogle.”

Messages from August 27, 2024, on his phone showed Edwards discussing possession of the devices, often referred to as “buttons.”

According to the complaint, a person messaged Edwards and asked, “…u still got that button”? EDWARDS replied, “My bro using that mf I got only 1 rn I got the button for the ar.”

A MCD, also know as a “switch”, “button” and “Yankee Boogle”, turns a regular semi-automatic weapon into a fully automatic.

During a recorded interview after the search, Edwards admitted to knowing about the device and confirmed it was the same one agents recovered.

Records show Edwards had a prior felony conviction for CCW in 2018.
