Detroit Imam Joins Nationwide Muslim Leaders in Endorsing Kamala Harris for 2024

A group of 25 Muslim leaders, including an imam from Detroit, has come together to
endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential race.

These leaders, spanning cities like Atlanta and Detroit, emphasize Harris’ commitment to
civil rights, racial equity, and economic justice as key reasons for their support.

They also highlight her dedication to healthcare reform and efforts to address the needs
of marginalized communities. The coalition believes that Harris has a strong record of
advocating for religious freedom and social justice.

“When Donald Trump passed the Muslim Ban, it was the then Senator Harris who
filed a bill in the Senate seeking to provide access to legal counsel for our
brothers and sisters caught in the Muslim Ban.
Vice President Harris held the first Eid Al-Adha celebration in American history at
her home, welcoming Muslim leaders from across America into her living room.
This is beyond symbolism; it is an affirmation that Islam is an American religion,” part of the letter reads.

The group also pointed to Harris’ record on advocating for marginalized groups and
pushing for policies that advance equality and inclusion
