Detroit High School Coach Charged After Taking Student to His Home & Inappropriately massaging Him

A 54-year-old teacher at East English Village Preparatory Academy is facing two felony charges of CSC in the 4th Degree following allegations involving a student with a cognitive learning disability.

According to court records, Nathan Tedford was charged after allegedly using his position as a teacher and track coach to groom a student. The charges stem from an incident that reportedly occurred this year.

During his arraignment, prosecutors told the court that Tedford falsely claimed to be a chiropractor and massaged the teen’s thigh under the pretense of treating an injury. The student’s family said Tedford used baby oil and began massaging the teen’s back, later instructing him to “turn around so I can massage your front.”

A $50,000 cash/surety bond was requested by the prosecution, with a judge ultimately setting it at $30,000.

In a statement sent to families, East English Village Preparatory Academy said:

“Dear EEVP Families:

The staff member has been placed on administrative leave and has been removed from the school pending a thorough investigation in collaboration with police.
