Detroit cop, suspect injured after shootout on city’s west side

A Detroit police officer was shot on the city’s west side.

The officer was shot Thursday night at an apartment in the area of I-96 & Burt.

Officers responded to the location after receiving a shots fired run inside.
Officers got to the location and heard additional shots being fired.

Officers made entry and encountered several suspects. One officer was then shot by one of the suspects, according to police.

A second officer pulled the injured officer away and fired shots at least one suspect. One suspect was injured at the scene, but it’s unclear if the officer shot him or the second suspect shot him.

Both the officer and the suspect are expected to be OK.
