Detroit Axle Bringing Hundreds of Jobs Back to Metro Detroit With Two New Facilities

Detroit Axle is making a major investment in Metro Detroit by expanding its manufacturing operations and bringing hundreds of jobs back to Michigan.

The company has opened a new plant in Warren, creating 250 local jobs after shutting down its facility in Mexico in 2024. But that’s just the beginning. Detroit Axle is now preparing to open a second site—a 350,000-square-foot manufacturing facility on 8 Mile Road, which is expected to add roughly 400 more jobs.

The Warren plant is already up and running, producing steering systems, brake parts, and gearboxes. Company leadership says the move reflects a long-term commitment to building in Michigan and strengthening the state’s role in the auto supply chain.

“This isn’t just about buildings or equipment,” said owner Mike Musheinesh. “It’s about investing in the people who made this company what it is. We’re putting millions into Metro Detroit, and we hope to work alongside the Whitmer administration and the MEDC to keep growing here.”

While the company had discussions with state leaders during the Warren project, Musheinesh said the promised support never came through. He hopes that will change with the Ferndale expansion.

“Detroit is home,” he said. “We’re not going anywhere—and we’re building for the future.”

The new Ferndale plant is part of a larger strategy to reshore manufacturing jobs and invest in local talent, positioning Detroit Axle as a long-term player in the region’s economic growth. @detroitaxle
