Detroit Assistant Principal Charged After Taking Student to His Home and Sexually Assaulting them

A Detroit school administrator has been arrested and charged after allegedly sexually-assaulting a minor, according to authorities.

54-year-old Jerome Younger, of Roseville, was arraigned on two CSC charges. Younger is the Assistant Principal of Edward “Duke” Ellington Conservatory of Music and Art at Beckham Academy in Detroit.

Officials say the assault happened Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Younger’s home. The victim is a current Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) student.

On Thursday, October 9, Younger was arraigned before Judge Alyia Marie Hakim in the 39th District Court in Roseville. He faces charges of First-Degree CSC. Judge Hakim set his bond at $250,000 cash/surety (10%).

The Detroit Public Schools Community District released the following statement:

“The District was recently informed that a Duke Ellington administrator was arrested for sexual-assault on a minor. The administrator has been placed on leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation and any criminal proceedings and is not permitted to be on DPSCD property. It is our understanding that the minor is a current DPSCD student and the alleged assault occurred off of school grounds at the employee’s home. We are unaware of any other alleged wrongdoing associated with this administrator but will ensure an investigation to ensure that this is the case.”
