Students Against Vaping (SAV) is a group of high school volunteers from Fordson, Dearborn, Edsel Ford high schools, and Henry Ford Early College, aiming to produce an anti-vaping documentary, “Clearing the Air, Together: The Battle Against Vaping.”
This documentary seeks state funding to explore vaping’s dangers, dispel myths, propose solutions, and feature insights from various perspectives, including medical professionals, educators, parents, students, and celebrity athletes. It aims to have a wide-reaching impact by being translated into multiple languages.
The initiative gained momentum following an enlightening visit to state lawmakers in Lansing, coinciding with National Red Ribbon Week.
The committee’s activities included participating in hearings, engaging with lawmakers, and stressing the importance of educational initiatives, stricter regulations, and support services through a letter to State Representatives Alabas Farhat and Erin Byrnes.
The group’s efforts are supported by various school and community leaders, including Faye Nemer and Dr. Violet Souweidane, who play significant roles in guiding the initiative.
