A Dearborn Heights man fell prey to a scam, losing $1,900 in a fraudulent transaction for Detroit Lions playoff tickets.
The incident began after the man engaged with authentic business accounts on Instagram, participating in giveaways for Lions tickets. He then received a direct message from an individual offering tickets for the Lions-Buccaneers game.
A deal was struck for $1,900, with the payment made through CashApp. The seller promised to email the tickets and related information post-payment. However, immediately after the funds were transferred, the man found himself blocked by the seller’s Instagram account.
The man is now seeking to dispute the transaction through his bank and plans to file a police report, acknowledging this as a “learning experience.”
