
A 70-year-old Detroit man died Wednesday morning after crashing into multiple vehicles and a box truck on Telegraph Road.
According to Bloomfield Township Police, the incident happened around 10:15 a.m. Officers saw a maroon Ford Explorer driving erratically northbound near Long Lake. The vehicle crossed several lanes of traffic and drove onto the median.
Police attempted to stop the Explorer with emergency lights and sirens, but the driver did not pull over. The SUV continued north before colliding with several vehicles and then striking a larger box-style truck stopped at Hickory Grove.
Emergency crews from the Bloomfield Township Fire Department tried lifesaving measures, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No other drivers were injured.
Investigators with the South Oakland County Crash Investigation Team believe the man may have been experiencing a medical emergency before the crash.
