Construction Worker Dies After Being Pinned by Reversing Cement Truck

A construction worker is dead after being hit by a cement truck in Detroit Wednesday morning.

It happened near Woodward Avenue and I-94. According to investigators, the cement truck was backing up when the driver accidentally struck the worker, pinning him.

The worker died at the scene. The incident is under investigation but it is accidental.

This marks the second construction-related death in metro Detroit this week.

In an unrelated incident on Monday, a 23-year-old man from St. Clair Shores died in Brighton while working at a construction site. Officials say he was inside an excavated hole on Grand River Avenue under I-96 when he was struck by an excavator bucket.
